What is your name and title, workplace?

DR. NITIN DHAR PT
B.PT, M.PT (Cardiopulmonary),CEAS,CMT,MIAP
Senior Physiotherapist and Ergonomics Expert
Founder – Ergowork Healthcare

What is your educational background?

Bachelors of Physiotherapy – Amity Institute of Physiotherapy, Amity University, Noida (2013-2017)

Master of Physiotherapy (Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation) – Center of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Jamia Millia Islamia. -( 2018 – 2020 )

Certified Ergonomist and Assessment Specialist – The Back School, Atlanta GA (2018)
Certified Manual Therapist – Manual Therapy Academy Surat (2021)

What did you do soon after your graduation? How long?

I was always passionate about starting up my own brand. Hence, since my 3rd year, I was planning what to do after finishing my internship.

I decided that I will start my healthcare startup. Entrepreneurship and management were my favorite areas to work on. I also planned the marketing strategies for reaching the maximum potential.

What are you doing currently?

I am the CEO and Founder of Ergowork Healthcare. We provide services on 4 verticals:

  • Physiotherapy and rehabilitation
  • Ergonomic consultation
  • Physiotherapy and nursing at home
  • Academics.

I am also been appointed as Visiting Faculty at Amity University Noida.

Why did you start Erogowork Healthcare?

I learned about Ergonomics for the first time in my 3rd year. Since then started studying and reading in depth about it to increase my knowledge. I was fascinated to see the application of ergonomics in all professions.

Around the same time, I was posted at the hospital for training. I saw a major gap in patients’ education in terms of occupational health hazards. Many times I noted that within a few days after completing the treatment patients used to come back with the same complaints.

I believed it was because the focus of the patient’s treatment was on pain management and muscle strength. Emphasis on occupational health was lacking. That is why I started Ergoworks Healthcare.

What is the typical day of work for you at Ergowork healthcare?

Typically my day starts at 8 in the morning with my black coffee and scrolling all my social media platforms to see what’s going on in physiotherapy and read the news.

I go to my office daily where I take all my calls for homecare and online consultations. During the day I plan my home visits depending on the schedule. So the day starts at 8 am and ends at around 8 pm.

So, My workdays are filled with meetings, sessions, workshops, and treating patients.

On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday I take classes for students at amity university for a few hours.

What are your work hours?

Almost 12 hrs a day with my teaching, homecare visits, and online consultation these days.

Do you work remotely or onsite?

I work onsite and also from my office.

What do you like about what you do?

For my ergonomic sessions, I often connect with corporate owners, chairmen, HR representatives, and diplomats. This taught me more formal ways of communication.

My soft skills, my dressing, and my presentation skills all have changed within a short span of time.

What are the challenges you face as a founder of Ergowork healthcare?

Individuals outside of my market sometimes prevent me from reaching my full potential. Some people wonder how can a venture by a young physio grow so well in a small period of time.

To give you an example, I used to charge Rs. 1000 for my session whereas my contemporaries used to charge Rs 300- Rs 400. For the first 6 months, I did not have much work. But I took efforts relentlessly day and night. Eventually, I was able to pull up the crowd to my clinic.

In fact, once two well-known senior physiotherapists came to my clinic to see what I did that people are willing to pay me so well. It felt weird especially because I used to admire them.

All I can say from my experience is that physios need to work on their communication skills, and how they present themselves. Know what makes you different from others.

What is the pay like?

Pay is all dependent on how skilled you are and how you talk to the patient. What makes the difference between charging 500 Rs a session to 5000 Rs a session is:
SPECIFIC IS TERRIFIC – be clear and attentive.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS – show what you have that makes you different from others.

Can you name books, courses, and workshops that helped you in your career?

Atomic habit by James Clear
Ikigai: the Japanese secret to a long and happy life by Francesc Miralles and Hector Garcia
These books have influenced me recently

What is next for you?

I will be planning to start my India tour for my Certified Ergonomic Specialist course.
It is currently under approval. It is a two-day course.

What is your advice for PT students?
