Bachelors of Physiotherapy (BPT): Shri K. K. Sheth Physiotherapy College (Rajkot, Gujarat, India), 2015

What did you do soon after your graduation? How long?

I moved to Vadodara. There, I worked as an Assistant Professor and Consultant Neuro-physiotherapist in the Department of Neurology, College of Physiotherapy, Sumandeep Vidyapeeth University with attached in-campus Dhiraj General hospital. It was a good experience. I was there for 2 years. My direction towards clinical decision-making in movement disorders was built Hands-on by Late. Dr. Lata Parmar (Ph.D., PT) and a few others.

What did you do after that and for how long?

I got married in time of the Covid’19 pandemic, and I moved to Bangalore. My use of social media increased as I started looking for doing something in the field of Physiotherapy. I wanted to help patients mainly with Neurological conditions since they had a lot of going in their lives to survive in this pandemic. Surely I did not want to sit at home.

I attended several online webinars, workshops, and conferences. As I was introduced to telemedicine and tele-rehab, I began my tele-consultation for physiotherapy on the side. With the use of an Android phone, internet, and camera, what can’t be achieved?

My whole family is in a business for generations. Hence, I have experience in branding and marketing in business models. In this new normal life of pandemic, digital marketing has a huge scale. My sister helped me with setting up all the promotional material and designs in the awareness campaign. Social media marketing and content creation were the key contexts. Hence I’m very active on social media platforms.

What are you doing currently?

I’m working at a Digital health care center, Health Q Rehab. This is a physical rehabilitation service provider. We are on the mission to help people reach the brighter side of their health. We do this by delivering condition-specific rehabilitation programs designed and delivered by specialized physiotherapists in different domains.

What makes us unique is our passion to make our physical rehab programs more effective, efficient, affordable, and accessible which is evidence-based practice.

How did you find your current job at Health Q? Application or connections?

I met our founder, Meghana Dave on LinkedIn. When I was looking for a job in Bangalore, I came to know about this amazing idea of Digital health care services. Additionally, Health Q gives treatment from domain specialists.

Keep your job profiled updated on social media. Be pro-active. Make sure to nurture communication skills, positive body language. Also, your professional attire matters. Knowing the basics of your field, interest topics, and all your past experiences to date is important. Since this needs to be summarized in the interview questions.

What was the interview process like?

We decided one day and met personally to understand the process. I cleared 2-3 rounds of interviews and took the flight for Digital Health care model.

Do you work remotely or onsite?

We deal with most of the patients remotely. We also see offline cases on an appointment basis along with their follow-ups. One can book an appointment from App as well as through a website.

What do you love about your job at Health Q?

Rethinking and remodeling traditional physiotherapy through innovative programs by a hybrid medium of delivery is the most lovable thing in my job. No matter what, we are here to stand by patients to help them.

What are the challenges you face?

Our vision is to change the way the world perceives and receives physical rehabilitation. One of the vital challenges is we design our programs in such a way that it is creative, tailor-made, fun-based, attractive so that patients don’t find it boring to do exercises on daily basis.

Others challenges can be working with technology, resources, and the internet. Once everything falls into place, things happen very satisfactorily.

What is the pay like?

The pay is equal to an average clinical physiotherapy role.

What do you think can be improved in our field?

I believe that whatever comes to you, you should at least give one chance to explore it. If an opportunity doesn’t come to you; you have to create it. Any aspect can expect, accept, and except. So, be open and welcome it.

Can you name books, courses, and workshops that helped you in your career?

I prefer Research gate, Pubmed, Google Scholar, Elsevier, and neurological journals for updating me in my evidence-based practice.

Apart from this, I’m a big fan of reading books based on mystery, thrillers, friction, and religion too. Some of my favorites are ‘The 5 am club’ and ‘The art of happiness.

What kind of person can do this job? What kind of person can not do this job?

It’s a personal choice of an individual. One should be aware of their interests, skill, physical and functional findings, and time management.

Is Health Q planning to hire more PTs in the future?

As our domains are expanding, we will require more physio’s to develop networks all over the world to share their expertise and experience for condition-specific rehab programs.

What is your advice for someone who wants to follow in your footsteps?

Actually, I would say don’t follow in anyone’s footsteps. Let you be different; let you be YOU and unique. Wherever you are be 110% of your own self. Run an extra mile more.
